Dermaplaning Facial Exfoliation

Dermaplaning $105

Embarrassed of peach fuzz? Then dermaplaning is for you.  In this service, a micro fine blade is used to remove all the visceral hair (also called peach fuzz) and layers of dead skin from the surface of your face. Dermaplaning not only enhances the results of other services like facials and peels, but can also reduce fine lines and recent scarring for immediate results with no down time.

FAQ's

What is Dermaplaning?

It is a physical exfoliation of the skin.  A surgical scalpel is used to gently shave the skins surface. The blade removes the top–most layers of dead skin as well as villous hair (aka peach fuzz.)

Who can have Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is especially effective on those with dry or rough skin texture and helps to minimize superficial acne scarring or uneven skin tone. It is also beneficial for mature skin, which tends to have a buildup of dead cells as cellular turnover slows down with age. Dermaplaning is safe for pregnant or lactating clients who cannot have chemical peels. Those with very oily or active acne should avoid this procedure as well as anyone with thick, dark facial hair.

Can Dermaplaning be combined with other treatments?

Yes! After all my treatments a hydrating mask is applied but it can also be combined with a peel or an echo2 oxygen treatment. Combining dermaplaning with a peel depends on your skin type and how many treatments you have had so this is not an option for everyone.

What can I expect during a treatment?

Come ready to relax! I will cleanse and tone your skin and make sure it’s nice and dry. Then I will go over it with a surgical scalpel removing the top-most layer of dead skin and all of that unwanted peach fuzz. I will gently cleanse your skin again and put on a hydrating mask. I’ll send you out the door hydrated and sun protected and with some samples to take home and try!

Will my hair grow back thicker?

Hair will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment. The hair being removed is vellus hair, the peach fuzz.  Although merely an old wives tail, hair will not grow back thicker, courser or darker.

What should I expect after my treatment?

Some patients report redness or dry feeling in their skin after a treatment, but this is temporary. Very rarely the skin can be nicked. This typically heals almost on the spot – remember – most men use a blade on their faces almost every day and nick themselves regularly with no long-term effects! Typical care following your treatment includes the use of moisturizers and sunscreens, and avoiding sun exposure for a few days. There is no downtime for this “lunch hour” procedure, and most people return to their regular activities immediately.
